2008 at Royal Legacy
It's January 2008 and winter has arrived in the Midwest. It's a major job this time of year trying to keep the snow and ice out of the kennels and finding places to run the dogs. The e-mails come almost daily as people are thinking of spring and puppies. We do our best to answer each one as soon as time allows.
A look back at 2007 shows us that we had another busy and productive year. Spring brought our second Harry and Ginger litter. There was a mix of both B/W and L/W puppies. We would have enjoyed keeping a pup but all were sold before they were born. Again we got to meet and visit with a lot of great people as they e-mailed, called and came to pick up their pups.
We encourage people to visit the kennels, see the pups and play with them as much as possible. This year we had over one hundred kids and adults come and help us socialize the pups before they left for their new homes. This is not only a good time for all, but it's great for the puppies.
Summer and fall brought us dogs to train for the fall hunting season, as well as getting three of our own ready to run in hunt tests. We like working with a few dogs from the outside as each one brings a new challenge.
We always enjoy hunt tests as it gives us a chance to greet old friends and see how someone else judges the progress our dogs are making. It's also a good way to get ready for hunting season. This year we ran Bob and Sadie from the 2006 Harry/Ginger litter and Annie from the 2006 Jazz litter. All three ran well and we were pleased with their progress.
Fall and winter brought hunting season and another trip to South Dakota. As anyone that has been there knows, this provides great bird work for the dogs and lots of shooting for the hunter.
Looking forward to 2008 brings the promise of another good year. We are now accepting deposits for the Harry/Jazz litter - which is due around the third week in February; and the Harry/Ginger litter for later in the spring.
Matt and I would like to thank those that bought puppies from Royal Legacy Springers this past year, as well as those that brought dogs for training. We enjoy what we do and that makes it all worth while.
Thanks again and come visit us - you are always welcome!

May 2007 at Royal Legacy
Hello from Royal Legacy kennels,
It's spring and Ginger had her 07 litter on April 27th. At this time all are spoken for. I have included several pictures of the litter as well as individual pictures of each pup. She had seven this year, three liver and white and four black and white. Each picture has two letters to indicate color and sex.
Please pay special attention to the picture of the two girls in the litter box while Ginger is nursing. This picture says a lot about the personality of the mother.
Even though the pups are spoken for, please feel free to visit the kennel and see the pups as well as Ginger and Harry. I also kept a female and a male from last years litter. They are progressing well with training. I also have a female pup from the Jazz litter, born Oct. 25th, 06. She is in for training. A little young but making great progress.
Thanks for a good year and visit, call or write when you have time.
Steve

January 2007 at Royal Legacy
It's January 2007 and winter finally has arrived. It's been a great fall and wonderful hunting season. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that visited, called, e-mailed and bought puppies from us this year. It has been a good year and we got to know a lot of very nice people. We had two litters at the kennels this year. The Ginger and Harry breeding produced nine puppies in March of '06 and the Jazz and Ace breeding gave us seven puppies in October '06. Puppies were placed in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and one was flown to Fairbanks, Alaska. Steve had the opportunity to train four pups from the spring litter. All were flushing and retrieving birds at eight months of age. They still had lots of puppy in them, but also lots of desire to learn, find birds and that great springer personality. I am sure Jazz's puppies will be the same. In 2007 we are planning three litters. We are breeding Ginger and Harry again in late January; Molly (and a stud to be chosen later); and Jazz and Ace again next fall. Harry sired two litters in '06 and will stand at stud to approved females in '07. At this time we are accepting deposits for the Ginger and Harry litter. This promises to be another great litter. Just remember, the Jazz and Ace litter sold out in six weeks. Following are statements from some of the people that we were able to work with in 2006:
Chris K. - Fairbanks, Alaska
Denise S. - Madison, Wisconsin
Phil R. - Marshalltown, Iowa
Jim A. - Forest City, Iowa
Al B. - Minnesota
Greg S. - Centerville, MN |
